This webinar on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 1:00pm Eastern will explore the ethical and compassionate approaches needed to provide effective care during pregnancy for patients who are using drugs. Focusing on both the health of the patient and their baby, faculty will examine the importance of nonjudgmental, evidence-based practices that support harm reduction, informed choice, and autonomy. Continuing education credit is available for this webinar!

Participants will learn about:

  • the complexities of addiction;
  • the unique challenges faced during pregnancy by patients using drugs; and
  • the need for a holistic, patient-centered approach to care.

By discussing real-world case studies and best practices, this session aims to empower healthcare professionals with the tools to offer compassionate, ethical support that prioritizes the well-being of both lives involved.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe at least three ethical principles essential to providing pregnancy care for patients using drugs.
  • Identify at least three unique challenges faced during pregnancy by patients who are using drugs, and propose holistic, patient-centered solutions to address these challenges.
  • Describe at least two harm reduction strategies that promote health during pregnancy.
